Coco

On January 3, 2012, I rescued my lil' pup from a Humane Society.  I'm not sure what caused the impulse, but somehow, as I was searching for dogs over the weeks/ months prior, I knew it was going to happen, sooner or later, just had to find the right one.  One day, my friend Tanya mentioned a Cockapoo (Part Poodle, part Cocker Spaniel), and when I saw the picture at the Humane Society in Hemet on January 2 late night, I knew she was the one I wanted.   So I took a leap of faith, and January 3, drove up to Hemet with my mom, almost a 2 hour drive.  I remember the first moment I laid my eyes on her...  She was running on the street with the trainer (at the Humane Society) and as soon as I laid my eyes on her,  I knew I had found my puppy ...The funny thing is, looking back now, I think the humane society got it wrong, and she isn't a Cockapoo or at least has another mix.  Many think she is a Portuguese Water Dog.  Much more high energy than a Cockapoo, and very cute :)  I guess you can't fight what destiny has in store for you.

January 15, 2012- I've now had Coco for over a week, I've really started bonding with her.  Oh she's peed many times in my carpet now, pood a couple times in my balcony and outside my door, and even started to demand the food I eat as opposed to the expensive dog food I bought for her.  And even more, my constant wiping of her feet, brushing of her teeth, and walks downstairs every two hours for her bathroom duties (including first thing in the morning and late at night), some might question what I am doing all this for.  All I can say is that it is all worth it, my Coco is already a bundle of joy to be with.  What I love about her is her wild and crazy energy all day long, and then how she totally conks out by around 9PM, and nothing can wake her up!  And in the early morning , how she jumps into my bed, and is so loving, sleeping right next to me...its a real warm feeling.

Right now, she is dead asleep on a cushion in my room, after a real fun day.  We went to the Del Mar beach for the first time in the late morning, ran around and got dirty in the sand, I even dunked her in the ocean 4-5 times, which she didn't seem too excited about :) After, I took her for a puppy wash in which I washed her for the first time in my life.  That was an experience hard to describe in words.  Later that day, my friend Rachel came over, and met her, and we took her to my parents house for a nice evening party!  And just now, I finished watching Marley and Me..what a heart warming film, and even though some of the scenes scared me for what I might be in store for with my new pup, it made me realize how attached I'm going to get to my lil' Coco Puff.

Somehow, I want everything right and I want everything for her.  Its funny, I've never had this kind of responsibility (with the exception of watching my grandma) for five months, but I'm starting to understand the love you feel for a child, even though it comes with all of the hard work and responsibility!

This could be the beginning of a new phase of life...and I'm super happy to have Coco help start that for me...
